:: Episode 12: MONTAAAGE
Ouendan (Cheering Squad)
Summary
BABY MIHASHI!! AAAWWWWWW!!! That's right, this episode begins with a flashback. We see little elementary school Mihashi being very lonely at school, and we get a flashback IN the flashback, to the time BEFORE Mihashi's family moved. He played baseball with Hamada and some other kids, and Hamada, nicknamed Hama-chan, gave him his old baseball glove. How sweet!
Back to the present, Mihashi wakes up, excited to discover that the Hamada he is in the same class as now is the Hama-chan from his childhood. Meanwhile, Hamada makes his way to practice! For you see, Shiga invited him. Once there, Hamada meets up with Tajima and Sakaeguchi and everyone, and Abe, getting annoyed with Mihashi's stupid expressions, shoves him over to Hamada. The two of them greet each other properly for the first time in years, and we learn that Hamada is in fact a year OLDER! He was held back a year. Says it's because of his own stupidity.
Time for some mental training with Shiga! They continue with the relaxation program. Shiga explains that in order to successfully relax on command, they need something to connect to the relaxation. They eventually decide on a runner on the third base - a third runner! With the third runner in mind, they join hands and start meditating as usual.
Hamada gets slightly angsty, and Momoe explains the importance of cheering squads to him. The team starts the physical training, and the rest of the episode pretty much consists of a big ol' training montage...
...until the last couple of minutes! Cut to Mihashi, Tajima, Izumi and Hamada's lunch break at school. They talk about training, and how much fun it is, and Hamada finishes a pretty cheering squad banner.
