:: Episode 211: Uneventful
Ace Dakara (Because I'm the Ace)

Summary

Bijo gets ready to destroy Nishiura's newly formed battery, starting with Yano! Mihashi still shows no signs of character development by being totally surprised by Tajima's giving him signs. The two of them screw around for a bit, and end up accidentally walking Yano with four balls. Abe is far from pleased, but Momoe threatens to send him off to the hospital if he doesn't put that frown upside down. As the doctor tells Abe he'll be fine after three weeks, Abe flashes back to his stupid promise to not get hurt for three years. See? It was totally foreshadowed! If he hadn't made that stupid dramatic promise, none of this would have happened!!
Mihashi continues his obnoxious self-loathing inner monologue as Makoto bats next. Makoto slams the ball right at Sakaeguchi, scoring Bijo their seventh point!
As Makoto skips back to the others, Naomasa tells him to pay attention to Momoe, since it seems like she's the one giving the pitch signs.
Bijo finish their batting with no more points, and Tajima complains about how tiring being a catcher is (the word 'shindoi' was not being used though). The others go and check on Abe, and Abe lamely tells them to get out there and hit for his sake! His teammates crack up at this. Haha. Abe really doesn't have any friends.
Meanwhile, Kazuki notices that Takeshi isn't looking up at the stands anymore, just as Roka returns. Kazuki tells him about the crash AS IF ROKA DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW, and then mentions that hey, Takeshi managed to injure someone in an earlier game too! He's on to something...

Izumi totally fails at batting, but Sakaeguchi has another strategy in mind. Rather than doing his best, he makes Takumi do his WORST by giving him a ridiculous facial expression! Whatever... works, I guess... Takumi thankfully manages to redeem himself by sending Suyama right out.
Tajima is up next, and with his head full of catcher stuff, he has a really hard time concentrating. Takumi easily pummels him to the ground.
Abe sends Mihashi off to the mound again, realizing the ridiculousness of his head-shaking ban more and more. He swears to himself to have a talk with and apologize to Mihashi when the match is over.
Mihashi remembers the promise too, and feels guilty for relying way too much on Abe and therefore making ABE feel guilty.
While Takumi bats, the other Bijo players read Momoe's sign and write them down. As it's Takeshi's turn, Makoto runs up to him to tell him of their discoveries and that Kentaro will be giving HIM signs. Working together with Kentaro, Takeshi hits and runs and... stops right there in front of the base. UM!!! Kazuki grabs the opportunity to pester Roka some more about Bijo's catchers, but Roka has had it up to HERE with it and basically just tells Kazuki shut up.
Takii yells at Takeshi a bit, but doesn't withdraw him from the game just yet.

It's Nishiura's turn to bat, and Hanai makes it to the base. Oki follows up with a dramatic flashback to his awkward throw that may or may not have caused Abe and Takeshi's crash that allows him a fantastic hit. Next up is NISHIHIRO, for the first time in his LIFE! Takeshi is aware of this, and runs up to share the information with Takumi. They manage to take advantage of it, and Nishihiro goes right out! He feels pretty dang useless, even when his teammates tell him not to worry about it. Mizutani brings the runners a bit further, and Mihashi gets walked with four balls.
Takeshi runs back up to Takumi, and Takumi grabs the opportunity to talk about how much cooler Naomasa is. Still, Takeshi wonders if this might be Takumi's last time playing in the tournament, so he wants to do anything in his power to make his last game a happy one, and perhaps have him throw for the rest of the game.
Izumi manages to get Nishiura their fifth point. Sakaeguchi is next, but there's no way Takumi is getting fooled by him again, so out he goes.
Time for the ninth and final inning! YOSHITO is batting first! The episode ends with his hitting and getting on base. SOOOO COO-UHL.

Best parts

  • That... THING with Takumi and Sakaeguchi. What in the world WAS it!? I am so confused!!
  • Um... Yoshito was being totally cool? This episode was kind of uneventful overall but whatever.

    Redrawn scenes

No DVDs yet! I predict lots of redraws for this episode... it was kinda sloppy overall.
